چکیده

The construction of topological index maps for equivariant families of Dirac operators requires factoring a general smooth map through maps of a very simple type: zero sections of vector bundles, open embeddings, and vector bundle projections. Roughly speaking, a normally non-singular map is a map together with such a factorisation. These factorisations are models for the topological index map. Under some assumptions concerning the existence of equivariant vector bundles, any smooth map admits a normal factorisation, and two such factorisations are unique up to a certain notion of equivalence. To prove this, we generalise the Mostow Embedding Theorem to spaces equipped with proper groupoid actions. We also discuss orientations of normally nonsingular maps with respect to a cohomology theory and show that oriented normally non-singular maps induce wrong-way maps on the chosen cohomology theory. For K-oriented normally non-singular maps, we also get a functor to Kasparov’s equivariant KK-theory. We interpret this functor as a topological

Rigidity and Other Topological Aspects of Compact Nonpositively Curved Manifolds

Let M be a compact connected Riemannian manifold whose sectional curvature values are all nonpositive. Let T denote the fundamental group of M. We prove that any homotopy equivalence ƒ : N —> M from a compact closed manifold TV is homotopic to a homeomorphism, provided that m > 5 where m = dim M . We show that the surgery L-group Lk+m(T, w{) is isomorphic to the set of homotopy classes of k k m...

We study families V of curves in P(C) of degree d having exactly r singular points of given topological or analytic types. We derive new sufficient conditions for V to be T-smooth (smooth of the expected dimension), respectively to be irreducible. For T-smoothness these conditions involve new invariants of curve singularities and are conjectured to be asymptotically proper, i.e., optimal up to ...

In many cases the convexity of the image of a linear map with range is R n is automatic because of the facial structure of the domain of the map. We develop a four step procedure for proving this kind of " automatic convexity ". To make this procedure more efficient, we prove two new theorems that identify the facial structure of the intersection of a convex set with a subspace in terms of the ...

Semicompatibility and fixed point theorems in fuzzy metric space using implicit relation

Cho et al. [2] introduced the notion of semicompatible maps in a d-topological space. They define a pair of self-maps (S,T) to be semicompatible if conditions (i) Sy = Ty implies that STy = TSy; (ii) for sequence {xn} in X and x ∈ X , whenever {Sxn} → x,{Txn} → x, then STxn → Tx, as n→∞, hold. However, in Fuzzy metric space (ii) implies (i), taking xn = y for all n and x = Ty = Sy. So, we defin...

Fixed point theorems for the class Q(X, Y)

Kuratowski [6] showed that a continuous compact map f : X → X defined on a closed convex subset X of a Banach space has a fixed point. This theorem has enormous influence on fixed point theory, variational inequalities, and equilibrium problems. In 1968, Goebel [5] established the well-known coincidence theorem, and then there had been a lot of generalization and application (see, [1, 2, 5]). L...
